Episode 114: Schmackhaft Machen Zwei: Jenseits Von Gut Und Schmackhaft

With apologies to all the greats from Germany (Goethe, Nietzche, Jakeawake) and all our great German listeners, we bring you an examination of palatablility. How do you ignore the slightly pukey aftertaste of something in order to enjoy the pink deliciousness of it?  Is it possible? Can a great game or product, once tainted, regain its flavor? Or can you just "suck it down?" in order to force yourself to enjoy it. We also have a NEW BLOWOFF CORNER, run through playlists, refine our ultimate space game, get distracted, and much, much more! Der Podcast beginnt jetzt!

Haven't listened yet, but my fingers are crossed that Esteban made a pass at Jessica Nigri.

I just started listening to this ep, but glad to finally hear somebody come out and call a cunt a cunt in regard to this whole Phil Fish stuff. Too many podcasts I listen to seem to be all to chummy chummy with the guy and just laugh it off. I think I'm right in saying that on the 8-4 podcast, which I love, one of the guys ended up praising Fish, saying he was "a big man" for apologising. What the fuck? It was big of the Japanese guy to take everything so well, not Fish, the absolute douchebag.

Not sure who's keyboard was clicking away in the background there, but, seriously: I want that keyboard! What brand is it? I have a not-so-secret fetish for keyboards that make nice, tactile, tap dancing sounds as your fingers play over them. These modern ones that sound like kittens landing on pillows drive me crazy.

That was Esteban gracing us with the sounds of his clickety clackety, tweeting or something when he should have been paying attention!

So I tried Freespace 2 with KB/M. I just played the 3 initial training missions and first real mission. I can tell that mouse is not ideal for making long 180+ degree turns. I could just use the numpad directions, but I may try to use my 360 pad. Anyone have experience or recommended configs? I was thinking pitch/roll on the right stick, and left/right rudder or yaw on the left stick horizontal and accel/decel on the vertical. It seems like the 360 pad has plenty of buttons for the most used functions in the game, but the keyboard is always there if not.

I did find one cool stick here: reviews.logitech.com/7061/291/logitech-extreme-3d-pro-reviews/reviews.htm. I kinda don't want to have another piece of hardware around, but on the other hand it could be of use in BF3 and other space/flight games....

Hey congrats on the new job Esteban. Sounds like you wanted a change. Still in the games industry?

Hey fellas, great show this week, enjoyed all the german stuff. Had a question about whoring. Was reading a thread on GAF where a poster alluded to higher-ups at Square going on crazy sex holidays, can you guys shed any light on this? Name any names? shame any... shames?

Yeah, Esteban, now that you're free of the Suda 51 yoke, it's time to deal some dirt. About him, about Grasshopper, about working on Shadows of the Damned, the fuck-ups, the freak-outs, the E! True Hollywood story. Burn it all down for us.

Whoa!Look at all the excitement over this new episode. I think I better tune in. Oh and by the way, Esteban, I knew you no longer worked at Grasshopper because it could be deduced from comments that Cheapy D made on his last podcast episode. He mentioned that he no longer knew anyone who worked there so I figured you left.

On an unrelated note, below is a link to an awesome song I think anyone into metal music would appreciate. It is an instrumental track by a band called Obscura, entitled, "Transcendental Serenade." No death metal vocals, just awesome composition and musicianship.

Enjoy

Once again I forget my manners! Congratulations Esteban on the new job! I hope you got a fat raise and are happier.

And...Minor correction, the song title is, "A Transcendental Serenade."

Not to be a hater, but Esteban, if you're going to do a podcast please actually pay attention to your cohost (or at least pretend to) instead of clack clanc clacking away talking or tweeting someone. Not only is the noise distracting, the fact that even you weren't concerned enough to listen to Count makes me feel then that for me too it is not worth listening, and so during my workout I switched over from you guys to my second-choice podcast.

Dear G,

Perhaps you haven't realized that "Russian Student Orgy" takes one's full concentration. I'm just amazed that it sounded like he was using two hands!!

Esteban, you sir are a real dude. You called and lied for a friend to get his internet turned back on?

I totally abhor tasks like that and would question if the friendship was worth the trouble.

Been listening to this, the most epic of podcasts for a little more than a year. Finally had the balls to make an account and post, since I just had a blow off of epic proportions. Decided to get some practice like Esteban, and not only was it a car crash, i might just need intensive therapy to get back the in game. I ask of you, what do you do when an alright girl who had the hots for you back in the day becomes a hottie and now ignores you?

Congratulations Esteban on hopping up the career ladder to a better job! Congrats as well on the move too. Do you like it more living closer to the hive of Tokyo? I know Akabane was still Tokyo, but it's not exactly yamanote-sen territory.

Also, wow, the Blow Off in this episode has to be one of the modest cringe-inducing. Sitting there drinking alone, going back and back again to those girls like a sex pest ;p

Esteban, since you're leaving Grasshopper, you should pull a Tom Cruise on your last day there and say, "Who's coming with me?!". Hopefully, one of the hot chicks there will take her chances. If it's dude, just say never mind and walk home.

btw, are you out of the gaming biz for good, or is it just an exodus in Japan thing for you?

Hahaha. There are no hot chicks here. I may ask out the cute girl in the coffee shop downstairs, though. Blow-on/off incoming!

I'm still in games. Just a better-paying, more cool stuff to do gig.

I am finally catching up with last week's episode.

Especially as a German I have to enjoy a Game because I have paid for it.
And If it is a bad experience...... you force yourself to enjoy it.
As a German you expect something for your Money.
a good example is "Rage" that game gave me a really hard time enjoying it
but I played the shit out of it because it was fucking expensive.
